Become a teacher at the Climb-Lernferien | Make children strong in Hamburg

You can join "climb" for two weeks as a teacher. During this time, you will teach a small group of children between the ages of 5 and 10 together with other "climb" teachers. You will design your own lessons and an afternoon project. You will learn a lot about leading and motivating groups, but also about your strengths and how to deal with challenges.

During the learning vacations, the subjects math and German are covered with the children (from preschool to 4th grade). In addition, we offer two excursions each in the vacations, which are e.g. a trip to the climbing forest or on the farm. The breaks and afternoons we arrange with games or things like tinkering and painting, which may be designed with pleasure by the volunteers themselves - your creativity is welcome.

Your Tasks

You:

• teach a small group in German and math
• design a project
• come along on excursions
• lead break supervision

We offer you: 

• Daily free training
• Experienced trainers on site accompany you in class, give feedback and support with open ears
• Daily reflection offers, so you can deepen your knowledge and classify
• Meals during the learning holidays
• An expense allowance of € 250 for your voluntary commitment
• Possibility of crediting within the framework of a compulsory internship in the fields of psychology, teaching and educational sciences

What's needed

We rely purely on the volunteers' sense of responsibility, motivation and openness. Previous pedagogical knowledge or training is not necessary, especially since the volunteers are always accompanied by climb professionals.

A police clearance certificate is mandatory when working with children, the cost of which is covered by climb. We also need proof of vaccination, because vaccination against measles is important. You should be able to keep a cool head in stressful situations and above all enjoy working with the children.

Time required

With us you can get involved both in the spring vacations, as well as in the summer and fall vacations. Contact us if you are interested and we will see when it fits best.

In addition, there are two preparation weekends before each learning vacation, so that you can start well strengthened and organized in the work with the children. 

Important notice

Due to Corona, mask obligation and hygiene concept (e.g. self-tests for children and adults, disinfectants, ventilation) could be important. However, such aspects will be discussed in detail during the preparation weekends.

We support children on their educational path, strengthen young adults for leadership tasks and design educational landscapes.
