Cooking in the healthy leftover kitchen of the Strassenfeger e.V.

Our Healthy Leftover Kitchen provides the homeless people who stay in our emergency accommodation with freshly cooked, wholesome food every day. We prepare 90 percent of our meals from food donations. We are actively supported by the Humanist Association and the food banks. In this way, we save food from the garbage can and strengthen our guests for their exhausting everyday lives.

Your Tasks

Your main task is to support our chef during meal preparation. Your tasks will therefore mainly include auxiliary kitchen work such as peeling and cutting vegetables or whatever else is needed in the kitchen. In addition, donated food must be sorted and stored.

What's needed

You should have basic cooking skills. You should also be able to lift heavy loads and stand for long periods of time.
For reasons of parity, we cannot employ anyone under the age of 25

Time required

We are happy about any help! The working hours are flexible, but to enable our head chef to plan ahead, it would be good if the working hours take place on regular days (e.g. once a week). The working hours are approx. 09 a.m. - 2 p.m. (may vary slightly)

Important notice

Strassenfeger e.V. has been helping homeless and poor people for over 25 years. The projects include a year-round emergency overnight stay for men and women, a weekly "social brunch" in the neighborhood store at Oderberger Str.12, the street magazine 'MAG', which is sold by homeless people (half of the proceeds go to the seller) and our 'social rental house' at Oderberger Str.12.
