About the volunteering opportunity
Gift a senior citizen from a Cologne senior center 1 - 2 hours of your time on Wednesday afternoons. A group of up to 15 seniors will be picked up by our transportation partner at the senior center and driven to us in the Rheinauhafen. We await them together for the "Lebensfreude Treff" with coffee & cake and then we chat. :-) Your company is a nice and valuable change to the daily routine of the seniors. Get to know each other, talk to each other, maybe laugh together - the meetings are always very nice and fun for everyone, young & old. #bettertogetherthanalone
When? Wednesdays from about 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm.
Where? In the Kranhaus North, 50678 Rheinauhafen Cologne (SESSELKAMPAGNE)
Your Tasks
As a volunteer, you are a nice conversation partner for the visiting seniors. In the best case, we have a 1-to-1 care. Your tasks are very simple!
You:
- offer a helping hand when getting out and getting into the taxi
- introduce yourself to a senior and open a conversation (conversations usually get started very quickly :-) )
- talk about positive topics
- if you want, we eat freshly baked cake and have coffee together!
- if the weather is nice, we go for a walk along the Rhine with the seniors
Your support would be AMAZING!
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
Friendliness, cordiality, communicative, empathic, easy-going, nice
What to bring
You don't need to bring anything to the get-to-know date (also to the respective meeting), we are looking forward to getting to know each other in a relaxed way and will explain the schedule of the senior meetings to you.

Our cheerful senior meetings
Under the motto "Together instead of lonely", we are committed to promoting greater joie de vivre in old age in the region with generation meetings on the Rhine. At our meetings, acquaintances are made between young and old that, in the best case scenario, go beyond the meetings themselves. We now work with 15 senior centers in Cologne, which visit us once a week on alternate afternoons.
