About the volunteering opportunity
The nationwide mentoring programme Balu und Du supports primary school children in extracurricular activities. Young, committed people volunteer to individually sponsor a child for at least one year. Through personal devotion and active leisure activities, they help them to develop in our society and learn how to successfully master the challenges of everyday life. The positive effects of the program are confirmed by effectiveness research.
Your Tasks
A Balu (volunteer between 17-30 years) meets with Mogli (primary school child) once a week for 2-3 hours for one year and does something with him/her. The activities can be chosen freely, i.e. baking, handicrafts, reading, sports or even going to the cinema/theatre/museum - depending on the interests of Balu and Mogli. Mogli is picked up from home/school and brought home again after the meeting. Each meeting is documented in an online diary. In addition, there are 2 support meetings per month, which enable personal, professional feedback and serve the exchange between the Balus.
We cooperate with several primary schools in Munich: Giesing, Neuhausen, Obersendling and Trudering.
What's needed
As a Baloo you should enjoy dealing with children, be open-minded, explore and try out new things together with Mogli, and have good empathy and sensitivity when dealing with children.
Time required
Important notice
This commitment is only directed at people who live in Munich.
Where?
Familienzentrum Trudering
We are an organisation where a primary school child (Mogli) is joined by a great friend (Balu). While Mogli must be proposed by a teacher or a school social worker, Balu is a young adult (up to 30 years of age) who volunteers to accompany the child once a week for two to three hours in his or her free time.
