About a hundred countries regularly take part in the so-called “World Refugee Day<\/a>“, which has taken place annually since 2001. Many events and projects are initiated with which participants express their solidarity with refugees.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this day, the UN Refugee Agency<\/a> will also publish the global refugee numbers<\/a><\/em>. In recent years they have reached sad records. Violence, persecution and human rights violations have forced and still force many people worldwide to leave their homes<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Already since the foundation of vostel.de<\/a>, projects with refugees have been an integral part of our platform. Over the years, we have been able to gather a lot of experience on how engagement with refugees can become a real support for them.<\/em> We would like to share these experiences with you, so that your commitment is as effective as possible.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before we start with our 3 tips, it is important to say that volunteering with refugees \u2013 like basically every work with people \u2013 requires openness and commitment<\/strong>. Besides that, there are no additional formal requirements when working with and for refugees.<\/p>\n\n\n

1. Meet people at eye level<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
