About the volunteering opportunity
Looking for support at Start with a Friend.
Would you like to work for a society that excludes no one? Would you like to bring people into contact with each other and campaign for openness and tolerance? Do you enjoy meeting new people and exchanging ideas? Then you've come to the right place!
Start with a Friend arranges friendships between people with and without a history of immigration. It is particularly important to us that we create encounters at eye level so that friendships can develop.
We are always looking for support.
Your Tasks
Do you want to:
- Bring people together?
- Share your hobby with other people and organize small events?
- Make SwaF even better known in your city?
If you answer "yes" to one or all of the questions, then come and join us! 😊
Of course, you're not doing all this alone. There is a volunteer team at each location that works together with a lot of joy, fun and SwaF spirit. We are always happy to welcome new faces. The topics of migration, diversity and anti-discrimination are very important to us. That's why we offer many different workshops in addition to our team work. You are welcome to take part. You don't need any previous knowledge.
If this sounds exciting to you, just send us an e-mail or write to us here at vostel.de and I will tell you everything else that is important during an introductory meeting.
We look forward to hearing from you!

Start with a Friend e.V.
Start with a Friend pairs immigrants and locals into tandems based on their interests and needs. Ideally, this leads to a friendship; in any case, it creates a social network that makes it easier for immigrants to get started in Germany. Start with a Friend supports and advises the pairs after they’ve been matched and organizes events to help the pairs connect with one another. It’s also important to us to create structures that allow people with busy professional and family lives to get involved. The schedule is therefore flexible, and training opportunities are available but optional. So far, Start with a Friend is active in 26 cities across Germany.Â
