About the volunteering opportunity
When can I believe a Facebook post? What relevance do the media have in politics? What influence do I have in democracy? What role does the EU play in my everyday life? These are questions that our seminar trainers will discuss openly as a tandem with pupils from year 9 upwards. The workshop schedule and materials will be provided by the association and presented during the kick-off training.
We are an association founded and organized by young people, which is rare to find in the educational landscape! We are looking for reinforcement from April 2025
Your Tasks
Do you find this exciting and could you imagine being part of the association? Then get in touch with us! Because we are looking to strengthen our team from October 2024. The training of the new seminar trainers will take place as part of an analog kick-off training (April 04-06, 2025) in Magdeburg. Any costs incurred for the training will be borne by the association.
After successfully completing the training, you will be ready to run four-hour courses in tandem at schools in your region. If we have the appropriate funding, the courses will be remunerated with an appropriate expense allowance of 60-120 euros. If there is no third-party funding, courses are held on a voluntary basis.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
The non-profit organization Understanding Europe Germany e.V. is looking for committed young people (18-27 years) who
- want to work as seminar trainers in the regions of NRW, Berlin/Brandenburg, Göttingen/Hanover and Hamburg and the surrounding area
- in the form of 4-hour seminars with students from the 9th grade onwards
- would like to work directly in the classroom to promote political exchange among young people about understanding the media, the European Union and a diverse society
- and also actively help to shape and develop the courses as members of the association.
Time required
You give courses in your region. They are distributed according to availability and time budget. In addition, you work in working groups (WGs) on financing the courses, public relations work or updating the course materials, etc. Therefore, all seminar trainers are also active members of the association.
