About the volunteering opportunity

The KRF has been campaigning for the protection and strengthening of children's rights since 2014. Through our work, we advocate for a children's rights-friendly society - offline and online. Our nationwide network of around 150 volunteers, which we would like to develop further together with you, is of particular importance.

To ensure that our community can grow, remain vibrant and operate effectively, we are looking for volunteer support in the area of community management. You will help to recruit new volunteers, support existing volunteers and promote exchange within the community. You will work closely with our team and support us both strategically and organizationally in the further development of our volunteer network.

With your support, you will not only strengthen our volunteers - you will also make a significant contribution to ensuring that our work for children's rights can be supported and further developed in the long term.

Your Tasks

As a volunteer in the area of community management, you will take on the following tasks:

  • Development & acquisition of volunteers:
You will support us in approaching and recruiting new volunteers for our KRF community - for example by creating texts, online research or accompanying information events.

  • Onboarding & supporting new members:
You help to welcome new volunteers, ensure a successful start to our work and are available as a contact person for initial questions.

  • Community support & exchange:
You play an active role in keeping the community alive - by organizing digital and face-to-face exchange meetings, answering questions or sharing relevant content.

  • Administration & maintenance of the community database:
You will support the maintenance of our internal tools (e.g. lists, groups, profiles) so that we can keep track of everything and provide good support for the community.

  • Idea development & co-design:
You contribute your own ideas on how we can strengthen, motivate and further develop our community, e.g. through creative participation formats, exchange formats or feedback rounds.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
What you should bring with you:

  • An interest in people and community work:
You enjoy connecting with people, listening, motivating and building things together.

  • Strong communication skills & empathy:
You can express yourself clearly, enjoy communicating respectfully - both verbally and in writing - and find a good tone even in challenging situations.

  • Reliability & organizational skills:
You work in a structured manner, keep to agreements and don't lose track of things even when there are a lot of members.

  • Digital openness:
You feel comfortable with digital tools such as email, Microsoft Teams, etc. - or are willing to learn the ropes quickly.

  • Team spirit & creative drive:
You enjoy working in a team, bring your own ideas and want to actively contribute to the further development of our volunteer community.

Don't worry: you don't have to be an expert - the most important thing is your interest and motivation to get involved in children's rights and our community. You'll learn everything else with us!

Time required

Regularly
Discussed individually
The time frame of the volunteering is flexible and can be easily adapted to your individual everyday life. It is important to us that you work on a regular basis - ideally you should bring 2-4 hours per week with you so that you can make a good contribution and together we can ensure reliable support for our community.

It doesn't matter whether you are active in the mornings or evenings. You can get involved regardless of your location - most tasks take place digitally.
Regular digital team calls and check-ins help us to stay connected and ensure a lively exchange within the team.

Important notice

Before you get started, we ask all interested parties to fill out our volunteer form. You can find it at the following link: Volunteer form. By completing the form, you will help us to get to know your interests and skills better so that we can assign you the right role in our team.

Where?

This project is location independent.

KRF (KinderRechteForum)

The KRF (KinderRechteForum) is a non-profit organisation based in Cologne and has been working for the realization of children's rights since 2014. The founder and managing director is Üwen Ergün. Today about 25 employees support this vision. Individual help, promotion of commitment and lobbying are the three pillars of our work.

The ombudsman's office for the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is the core of individual assistance and is available to children throughout the country for questions, complaints and in emergency situations.

Promoting commitment takes place, for example, in the form of project weeks and workshops in schools. Ultimately, the KRF sees itself as a mediator between children and politics and carries out extensive lobbying work.
