About the volunteering opportunity
Would you like to bring joy to lonely senior citizens with a letter?
In the "Berliner Herzenszeilen" project, volunteers write letters to senior citizens who have little social contact. This creates pen friendships - sometimes even personal encounters.
Lonely older people can express their interest in becoming pen pals to the Herzenszeilen Berliner Herzenszeilen - Unionhilfswerk project. The project then finds volunteers. In addition, the Unionhilfswerk's mobility assistance services and care homes are in contact with lonely older people.
Your Tasks
You write letters and share thoughts, joy and closeness. Every line can enrich your everyday life and bring a smile. We provide you with the material.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
You need an intermediate level of German for this engagement offer. In addition:
- Access to older people
- Interest in the everyday lives and biographies of older people
