About the volunteering opportunity
The inclusive company "Komm&Sieh" runs four second-hand neighbourhood stores, the TEXTILHAFEN with material pool, the upcycling label WaterToWine, the Re-Use Centre in the House of Materialization, the logistics kitchen and helps with professional apartment clearances.
The TEXTILHAFEN of the Berlin City Mission is the central sorting point for our textile donations in Prenzlauer Berg. First comes the needs of our needy guests in the clothing stores & emergency shelters. Everything that is not needed there goes into a regional textile cycle wherever possible. Some of the textiles go to our second-hand neighborhood stores. Another part is made available to the textile material pool: Upcycling designers, theater and film outfitters and many more use the material resources of our city. We use the proceeds to support social projects of the Berlin City Mission. And we need your support!
Your Tasks
Activity:
- Sorting for the TESTILHAFEN clothing store: As part of a team of other volunteers, you will support the TEXTILHAFEN staff in folding and reworking clothes that have already been sorted for our clothing store and packing them into transport boxes as required.
- Sorting for the material pool of the TEXTILHAFEN: On Fridays, you can also support the employees of the TEXTILHAFEN in a team of other volunteers by sorting textiles for the material pool of the TEXTILHAFEN. You will also help with the fine sorting of textiles for sorting orders.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
You will enjoy this voluntary position: You enjoy working in a team and know your way around textiles. You find the upcycling of products just as useful as we do and are happy when textiles are given a new function. The work is varied and takes place in a logistically well-organized sorting system together with friendly colleagues.
Requirements: It is important that you can communicate well in German. Knowledge of English is an advantage, but not a must. You must be 18 years old for this volunteer position.

When:
- Sorting for the TESTILHAFEN clothing store: Monday - Friday from 08:00 to 12:00 or from 13:00 to 16:00
- Sorting for the TESTILHAFEN material pool: Friday, 09:00 - 14:00
time required: Once a week, approx. 3 hours. The times can be arranged individually. We are looking for a regular commitment.
