About the volunteering opportunity

The AGA works together with projects for sea turtles and would like to contribute to the protection of sea turtles here in Germany, too. These turtles are also threatened by extinction due to our behaviour, e.g. when we are on holiday at the nesting beach or our plastic waste. The AGA has produced educational materials for this purpose. Within the framework of the AGA sea turtle exhibition, children and adults learn about the living conditions of the animals and how each and every one of us can contribute to their protection. The committed individuals are to be deployed in the field of environmental education in Germany.

Your Tasks

Sea turtle ambassadors should become active in the protection of sea turtles and show the sea turtle exhibition in their region in schools, university, at a action day, etc. We are looking forward to many active people, who would like to create a great event with our sea turtle mascot Agathe, e.g. combined with a fabric bag painting event, handicraft event, play afternoon or similar.

The sea turtle exhibition can be borrowed free of charge. We are of course happy to help with tips and ideas for painting, handicrafts and play activities.

Where?

This project is location independent.

Aktionsgemeinschaft Artenschutz (AGA) e.V.

The Aktionsgemeinschaft Artenschutz (AGA) e.V. has been committed to the conservation of endangered animal and plant species and their habitats for 30 years. The AGA is internationally active to promote the protection and conservation of nature, to increase environmental awareness and to prevent the destruction of the basis of life of humans, animals and plants.

In order to be able to implement its projects sustainably, the AGA works together with competent local partner organisations worldwide. The AGA's projects include, for example, the protection of sea turtles threatened with extinction, the rearing of elephant and cheetah orphans or the protection of brown bears in Romania and foxes in Germany. In order to develop effective and scientifically based protection measures, the AGA also carries out basic research. For example, research is being conducted into the distribution areas of koalas and penguins in order to better protect them there. With constructive conservation concepts the AGA contributes to the solution of existing human-wildlife conflicts, for example by using guard dogs to protect the cheetahs. By designating protected areas and tree planting campaigns, the AGA also works to preserve the habitat of endangered species.

In order to raise awareness of endangered species and their habitats, the AGA produces extensive exhibitions with appropriate teaching materials, which can be borrowed free of charge. More information can be found at www.aga-artenschutz.de/umweltbildung.html
