You would like to support pupils and students with your study experiences? You want to encourage others and pass on your knowledge about university to students of the first generation? Then come to the next ArbeiterKind.de meeting in Leipzig and get to know us!
Every second Monday of the month there is an open meeting - on site and (since Corona) sometimes online.
ArbeiterKind.de has been active for years and has reached thousands of pupils, students and young professionals and encouraged them to go their own way.
You can expect various opportunities to get involved as a volunteer. We motivate students in schools or at information booths. We support pupils and students personally by talking to them about questions around studying. We get together in local groups to plan activities and help those seeking advice. And also to make each other feel like we're not alone as first-generation students. It's up to you to decide how much you want to get involved.
In the local group, we assist those seeking advice, organize school visits, give talks, and run information booths at fairs and universities. In addition, there are internal tasks such as social media, mail support, organization of meetings and much more.
We are sure you will find a task that makes sense to you and that you enjoy!
You can also get support yourself! We offer workshops and network on topics like financing, promotion, application, career entry, etc.
No prior knowledge is necessary to get involved with us.
Everyone is an expert in their own educational story. We tell these stories and encourage others to follow their path.
As a mentor, you answer the questions you know.
You can also learn new skills, such as speaking in front of groups, giving workshops, and more.
Everyone can contribute individually, as time permits. The tasks are flexible and the amount of time can be increased or decreased depending on availability.
We are sure that you will find a task that makes sense to you and that you enjoy.
ArbeiterKind.de encourages and supports all those who are the first in their family to study or would like to study. The heart of ArbeiterKind.de are the volunteers in over 80 local groups nationwide. We tell our own story at schools, information stands, open meetings or consultation hours and thus encourage others to study.
The Leipzig group supports and advises in all matters from the decision-making process and the start of studies to graduation and starting a career.
