About the volunteering opportunity

You want to meet new people from different cultures? You want to organize cultural events - whether online game nights, virtual cooking events or hopefully soon again in the presence format excursions in and around Berlin? Are you between 18 and 30 years old? Then the "Kulturbuddys" is the right place for you!

We are a colorful group of young committed people, old and new Berliners, with and without a refugee background, who undertake cultural activities two to four times a month. The "Kulturbuddys" offer an opportunity to meet and support on a creative light-hearted level. You can volunteer and at the same time learn about cultural backgrounds in a playful way and exchange ideas with new people. We discover Berlin together, go to the museum, watch movies, cook together and listen to lectures on various cultural topics and along the way we learn German, Arabic or whatever language you bring with you.

It is important to us that the project takes place at eye level: You specify what you want and find interesting, because your ideas, interests and skills are in the foreground and can be brought into the project.

You should have a desire to actively shape the project and bring your ideas.

More information is available on our website  or on Facebook, where we share our current events in the group "Kulturbuddys, youngcaritas berlin".

We also welcome your inquiry here via vostel or via mail: kulturbuddys@caritas-berlin.de

Your Tasks

With us there are many different tasks. Come by and take part. Then we can see what you want and whether and how you want to contribute.

Here are some examples:

  • you organize our joint events and bring your ideas actively
  • you write texts for Facebook, Instagram or our website
  • you want to make photos or videos
  • you want to develop new formats (e.g. a walk in the neighbourhood)
  • you want to organize sporting activities (soccer, basketball, bouldering, hiking) or cultural (theme nights, trips to museums, lectures on culture and religion)
Your ideas have no limits!

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.

Anyone between the ages of 18 and 30 - with or without a migration background - who wants to meet new people from all over the world, experience culture together, have fun and meet other people with respect, curiosity and empathy can participate. We would also be happy if you bring creativity and reliability with you and feel like actively shaping the project.

We would like to speak and practice German together in the project. It would be great if you have an intermediate knowledge of German and are not afraid to speak. We all learn together! It is a great opportunity to practice.

Where?

youngcaritas Berlin

The youngcaritas Berlin belongs to the Caritasverband für das Erzbistum Berlin e.V. and promotes young people's commitment. Our goal is to introduce young people to politically and socially "explosive" topics and to teach them a more attentive and conscious use of environmental resources, both through theoretical input and through practical implementation. The goal of youngcaritas Berlin is to win as many young people as possible for voluntary work, be it for the youngcaritas projects "Kulturbuddys", *vergissmeinnicht* or through counselling and placement in various institutions and projects.
