Support & accompany elderly people in the hospital

We are looking for committed people to support us in the Hildegardis Hospital in Cologne (between the university and Aachener Weiher) once a week.

The patients - especially on the geriatric ward - are happy about your visits. It would also be great if you could help us with the food distribution on Sunday lunchtime.

Your Tasks

• Talking to the patients
• Guiding patients from the registration desk or from the outpatient clinic to the ward
• Accompanying patients to church services in the hospital chapel
• if necessary, accompaniment to the hairdresser and to the chiropody in the house
• Accompaniment to the hospital park and to the cafeteria
• doing small shopping in the vicinity of the hospital (newspapers, fruit)
• Registration of the telephone card
• help handing out meals
• Help with meals
• Taking laundry to the dry cleaners
• fulfill small wishes of the patients
• Ask for music wishes

What's needed

• Pleasure in dealing with older people

Important notice

We are happy to provide you with advice and support, offer guidance for tasks such as helping with meals and offer you the opportunity to talk at any time.

During volunteering, compliance with the Corona Protection Ordinance is a high priority for us. Therefore, masks are required at all times. We also ask for regular testing.

The youngcaritas organizes low-threshold engagement opportunities for young people between 13 and 27 years at about 80 locations nationwide. In the Archdiocese of Cologne, it is active in Düsseldorf, Mettmann, Wuppertal & Solingen, Remscheid and Oberberg.
