Support our childcare (handicrafts, painting, playing with refugee children)

We are looking for volunteers to support our childcare and play, paint or do handicrafts with the children. The children have only been in Germany for a short time, so it is very important in communicating with them to speak slowly, in simple words / terms, clearly and distinctly.

Languages such as Russian, Serbian, Farsi or Arabic are an advantage, but not a prerequisite. Games without words" are also welcome.

Your Tasks

Prepare and conduct games. Times by arrangement - preferably as often as possible. Feel free to bring your own toys, if available.

What's needed

Experience in working with refugees is an advantage, but not a prerequisite.

An extended certificate of good conduct must be submitted (free of charge for volunteers, we will help with the application).

Persons born after 1970 must be vaccinated against measles (Infection Protection Act).

Complete immunization against Covid-19 is desired.

Important notice

We are a first reception facility - this means that our residents and their children have only been in Germany for a short time and in most cases do not yet know German. Languages such as Russian, Serbian, Persian or Arabic are an advantage (but not a prerequisite!). It is to be expected that children can get in and out at any time.

The facility in Askanierring is a first accommodation for refugees who are new in Berlin. Temporary accommodation can accommodate up to 250 people of all ages and from different countries of origin.
