We would like to offer something for parents in the mornings (in addition to our open children's and youth work in the afternoon). We would like to get to know them, listen to their worries and needs, maybe offer them some practical help for everyday life - give them a place where they feel welcome.
We feel that the best way to do this is over a cup of coffee, so we would like to start a parent café in our premises.
Whether we offer food (cakes, rolls ...) will be determined in consultation.
You could help with the preparation (making coffee, decorating, preparing cookie plates, putting together a game box...). During the café you could have a coffee with the guests, make them feel welcome and have a chat with them. Alternatively, you could play with the young children who may be coming along, giving the parents space to relax.
From time to time we would like to give short thematic inputs on topics that concern our guests: understanding the German school system, talking to the doctor, finding a job, etc. If you want, you could also contribute with ideas - but this is not an obligation.
A heart for migrants ♥ ! The parents of our children come almost exclusively from the high-rise housing estate on our doorstep and often have difficult starting conditions. Very few of them speak German as their mother tongue.
The parents' café is an idea of ours that we would like to plan and implement together with you. The time frame can be set individually: between once a week and once a month on a fixed day in the morning, everything is possible.
If we decide to offer food, a hygiene instruction should take place at the city of Düsseldorf (time expenditure approx. two hours).
We are involved as a district project in the housing estate on our doorstep in Hassels Nord for children and young people. We offer free lunch, homework help and learning support, workshops, games, musical instrument lessons, sports, holiday activities and more.More about the organisation
