Start with a Friend mediates friendships between people with and without an immigration background. It is especially important to us that we meet at eye level, so that everyone in our community feels comfortable.
If this sounds exciting to you, just send us an email and I'll tell you everything else that's important during a get-to-know-you conversation.
We are looking forward to meeting you!
To make it even better, we are looking for people who want to..
... To organise events for a diverse community
... to try out new online formats
... to get to know many different people
... to come up with new event ideas
Feel free to bring as much time as you'd like.
In our volunteer team, which is full of passion and fun, you will have the opportunity to gain experience in community building and event management. In addition, Start with a Friend offers further training opportunities in the form of inspiring online seminars in the field of migration, diversity and anti-discrimination. Prior experience is not necessary. Our team welcomes every new team member with open arms - join us in shaping the society we want to live in!
Start with a Friend connects immigrants and locals in tandems based on interests and needs. Ideally, a friendship develops out of this, but in any case, a social network is created that makes it easier for immigrants to have a good start in Germany. Start with a Friend accompanies and advises the tandems after the matching and organises events to bring the tandems into contact with each other. It is also important to us to create structures in which people can get involved, even if they are tied up in their work and family life. The time schedule is therefore flexible; further training courses are offered but are optional. So far, Start with a Friend is available in 21 cities nationwide.More about the organisation
