We currently continue to provide absolute emergency aid. Humanitarian care of refugees with us in House R.
Daily between 100 and 300 people seek us out.
For us to do this work, we need volunteer supporters with Russian and / or Ukrainian language skills, because most of the guests are affected by the war in Ukraine.
Who is interested to participate here, can here register. We look forward to you!
What is the main task?
We of Moabit helps provide in all of Berlin people where "need on the man" is. This means, for example, if at a hostel - which now hardly offer towels - spontaneously 100 people are accommodated and we receive their call for help, must be spontaneous driver and language mediation in the house R, which pack up the need and bring with our vehicle to them.
But just as reach us calls for help from dance schools, hotels, etc.. or we must bring people from A to B (within Berlin) or we must go shopping.
There are so many different reasons that we must quickly step in.
This can happen several times a day or even less, it can happen in the morning or in the afternoon or not at all.
When need is, of course, we have no influence. But if, then we want to be able to help quickly.
Welcome the refugees and take over low-threshold translations.
Daily up to 300 people come directly to us in the house R who may take donated things as needed. To do this, we have to be there to explain which products are there, because it's all in German. To do this, we have to put away, tidy up etc.
But one of the most important tasks for this is to provide support during the counseling sessions. Because the main goal must be that people receive the benefits to which they are entitled, so that they no longer need us.
But it also involves talking to people, perceiving them and telling them that it is nice that they are with us, that they are safe.
We want to convey to people that we are not just a dispensary of donations but a place of arrival, with people for people, at eye level, that we are there for each other. That they are not alone.
Help us with this, become part of Team Haus R
You must speak Russian or Ukrainian. If you don't speak German, you are also welcome with English.
Please refer to our website for the most up-to-date information on our needs. We ask you to be flexible and patient. The situation is currently very dynamic and support needs change regularly. So it can happen that we spontaneously ask you to help with other tasks as well.
We have been campaigning since 2013 as an active citizens' initiative for the protection of persecuted persons and refugees according to the Geneva Refugee Convention. Our goal is help for self-help, we work at eye level with the refugees and also demand this from authorities.
