The Utopia Football Friday takes place every two weeks. It is aimed at the residents of the refugee accommodation in Ramersdorf-Perlach as well as at the young visitors of the Utopia leisure centre. The participants are between 13 and 27 years old. After the first joint football match on the football field in Langbürgen was extremely well accepted at the end of November 2016 despite the icy cold, the Football Friday was launched. The aim of the Football Friday is to create a common basis for the participants from different social and cultural backgrounds to engage with each other. After 90 minutes of action in the hall, the excursion ends with a closed Utopia visit of some footballers. The evening is rounded off with a game of table football, table tennis, playstation, tea, etc.
During the football matches you are always a contact person for the boys. You support Leo in explaining the procedure and the rules of the game to the participants, distributing and collecting equipment (bodysuits, socks, shin guards, goalkeeper gloves etc.). The available 90 minutes are mostly in mini tournament form. Your task is to take notes of the results on the tournament schedule during the mostly quite hectic games and to keep an eye on the overall situation. If you feel confident, you may of course whistle one or the other game as referee :) The social contact with the boys (e.g. by asking about other hobbies and interests) is important to us. In doing so, we want to point out Utopia as a possible place for their leisure activities. If a few footballers go to Utopia after the trip, you will accompany the group together with Leo. There we let the evening come to an end together. Any kind of inappropriate behaviour (e.g. insults, theft, violence) will be consistently shown the red card.
You should have the ability to approach people from different cultural backgrounds in an open and friendly manner. You should also be well organised to keep an overview in hectic situations and be able to communicate clearly and distinctly. Experience in working with teenagers and young adults or refugees would be an advantage. Above all, you need time and the desire to spend a Friday with us
As a recognised institution for open child and youth work in Munich Ramersdorf, Utopia offers a wide range of leisure activities. In addition to the play and exercise facilities of the open institution, such as billiards, table tennis, playstation, foosball, football, basketball, and boxing, workshops such as graffiti take place regularly. Our qualified pedagogical staff also offers support, help and advice in the search for an apprenticeship place, qualification preparations, German tests and also application documents. A special component of our work is the integration of refugees into the open company, which has been pursued in a targeted manner since 2016. In this context, more playful, sporting, creative and culinary activities are offered to the youth and young adults from the refugee accommodation in the district.More about the organisation
