To enable the participation of refugee families in a future workshop, we are looking for volunteers to take care of the children in the immediate vicinity of the future workshop. This will take place outside in the courtyard of the transitional facility for refugee families of the German Red Cross in Frankfurt/Harheim.
What is the Future Workshop?
In the Future Workshop, 126 residents of a settlement set out to strengthen communal and neighborly living. Various questions are discussed: How would the residents like to shape their everyday living together? What joint leisure, educational and cultural projects should there be in the future? How can they shape their neighborhood in community and solidarity?
The transitional facility for refugee families of the German Red Cross is an innovative project within Frankfurt. Conceived as an integral part of a communal and intergenerational housing project by Hestia e.V., everyday encounters, volunteer neighborhood projects, as well as mutual support and participatory involvement opportunities are part of the everyday living of the community of 126 refugees and non-refugees. The facility opened in 2019 and after the first volunteer structures were able to form, all neighborhood projects and opportunities to use the common spaces had to be discontinued due to the pandemic. We would like to use the summer time to motivate the residents in a joint participation process to actively shape their place of residence within the framework of a future workshop and to initiate volunteer projects. To enable the participation of refugee families in the future workshop, we are looking for active volunteers for childcare.
Childcare can vary and is based on the needs of the children. From reading together, crafts or building Lego, we provide toys. If you have your own ideas, we are happy to implement them together with you. Since the Future Workshop takes place in the immediate vicinity, we would like to motivate the children to rather quieter activities.
We want an empathetic and appreciative approach to the children. Almost all children speak good to very good German. Children of all age groups live in the settlement.
On site we provide toys and equipment. If you have a special request, please feel free to write us.
You need to sign up for this project 1 day(s) in advance
