The Begegnungscafé is an open café for residents of the Roter Berg and beyond. We have been open from Monday to Friday since November 2022.
The Begegnungscafé is part of the ANDERS meeting center of the Jesus-Projekt Erfurt e.V. Here, encounters have been taking place for many years through various offers. In the creative, wood and candle workshop, people who have committed crimes can complete their community service hours, in the counseling center they receive help and guidance, at lunch and various offers people experience community and in the area of street work they experience that people take time for them and meet them at eye level.
The café is a platform for exchange and encounters between people from different backgrounds and thus aims to promote togetherness and the reduction of prejudices. Anyone who wants to can come - whether to have a coffee on their own or to experience community with others. People doing community service are given the opportunity to acquire skills related to working in a café.
As a volunteer in the café, you can learn how to use the portafilter machine and prepare coffee variations. But don't worry, none of us are professionals and we are on a learning path together. Together with full-time staff and volunteers, you will work in a team and create an inviting atmosphere to welcome people. You will have time to sit down with the café visitors, chat about God and the world, play a game, laugh or cry. Ideas for activities are always welcome: be it sporting, creative or musical. We would be delighted if you could get involved with your gifts. The aim of the café and your volunteer work is to create encounters.
You should have a solid basic knowledge of German (oral). It is also important that you are open to people from different target groups and willing to engage with them. We are a Christian organization, so you should represent Christian values and respect the Christian faith as the basis of our association. Apart from that, reliability and a willingness to get involved on a regular basis are important to us. You can learn everything else on site.
We would like you to work regularly, if possible once a week would be great. The times are between 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., but shorter periods (at least 2 hours) are also possible. Let's talk about your exact time possibilities. On Wednesdays it is also possible to help out until 5:30 p.m.
We are a social-diaconal living and service community in the slab construction area. In our daycare center, in our streetwork services and within the framework of our children's program "bärenstark", we offer people a new perspective.
