youngcaritas is the platform of the Caritas for the social engagement of young people.
*vergissmeinnicht* is an upcycling sewing project that is run out of the small six machine sewing atelier inside caridoo. There the volunteers meet twice a week to design and sew new products out of material which would have otherwise been discarded. The clothes and fabrics come from the caritas clothing chamber (Caritas Kleiderkammer) or donations. The products sewn by the volunteers can be bought in caridoo and at street and Christmas markets in and around Berlin. The revenue goes as a donation to other social projects of the Diocesan Caritas Associations in Berlin. Every first Tuesday of the month there is a NEWCOMERS DAY for people who want to get involved.
Every month, there´s a NEWCOMERS DAY, for all people who are interested in participating, learning about upcycling and also how to use a sewing machine. We are looking for young people who feel like dealing with any kind of old material in order to create new products that will be later sold in order to create revenues for social projects. After participating in the NEWCOMERS DAY you are welcome to join every wednesday from 6-9pm .
We look forward to more creative ideas and nice ways to expand our range of products.
Co-equal and respectful treatments are very important. We are looking for committed volunteers who are willing to introduce new ideas while implementing their know-how. Together we can learn from each other! We want a win-win situation for everyone who´s getting involved :)
It's not a must but definitely it is definitely of advantage if you have sewing skills.
