About the volunteering opportunity
The Library of Things is a sustainable project that offers people the opportunity to borrow everyday items instead of buying them new - from tools and kitchen appliances to leisure items. We promote sharing instead of owning, community instead of consumption.
Your volunteer work:
Our lending station is located in Vintage-IN, an open, lively store in Wilhelmstadt - with a regular audience and lots of encounters. It's not about working through lists in a quiet little room: You are right in the middle of it all, interacting with people. And in between? Of course there's also a coffee or tea - because a pleasant atmosphere is important to us.
Your Tasks
- Issue and return of loan items via our digital loan system (laptop available)
- Friendly contact with library users
- Brief visual inspection of returned items for completeness and damage
- Support with the organization of loan items on site
- Possibly minor administrative tasks (e.g. entering reservations)
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
What you should bring with you:
- Enjoy working with people
- Reliability and a sense of responsibility
- Basic knowledge of how to use a laptop
- Interest in sustainable consumption and community projects
