This is us
We are a team of 17 people from Berlin and are convinced that everyone should have the opportunity to get involved in creating a just and sustainable world - regardless of time, place of residence, language skills and abilities.
To this end, we are constantly developing our volunteering platform and our advisory services - always with the goal of providing access to volunteering as attractive and simple as possible.
What started in 2015 with two students, a simple Wordpress site and a handful of volunteers and projects is now a social enterprise with a constantly growing community of volunteers, non-profit organisations and committed companies.
Through vostel.de, we want to encourage people to get involved for a sustainable and fair future in a simple way and / or to find supporters for their projects. Our target group includes non-profit organisations and volunteers who get involved in their free time or as part of a company commitment.
Around half of our registered volunteers are between 18 and 34 years old and 60% of them are newcomers. This means that we have a diverse target group consisting of locals, expats, exchange students, people with refugee experience, au pairs, travellers and many other fascinating personalities of all ages in our community.
The organisations looking for support on vostel.de range from large institutions and traditional associations to small, as yet unknown organisations or initiatives. What they all have in common is the desire to make a difference.
In addition Companies can find opportunities for their corporate commitment via vostel.de. From urban start-ups and SMEs in rural areas to traditional corporations, all types of companies and their diverse employees are represented.
Our core tasks are to mediate volunteers to non-profit organisations and to advise organisations in the non-profit sector.
In addition, we regularly organise workshops on various topics, such as volunteer management 2.0, digital commitment, young volunteers and the development of meaningful corporate partnerships.
We also support companies in the planning and implementation of their corporate volunteering activities.
Via social media and our blog, we also regularly provide inspiration on how to change the world into a fairer and more sustainable place, both on a large and very small scale. We raise awareness of the challenges of our time and offer low-threshold solutions so that everyone feels like simply getting started.
We finance our team, the counselling services for NPOs and volunteers as well as the continuous technical development of vostel.de in various ways.
We advise companies on the planning of their corporate volunteering programmes and on the organisation and implementation of various forms of commitment such as social days, fundraising campaigns and much more. We also generate income through speaker and lecturer activities as well as workshops. In rare cases, we receive government funding.
