Whether for school or leisure, learning German is essential. ArrivalAid, an organization that supports people from refugee and migrant backgrounds with a wide range of services, is looking for committed volunteers for a reading and writing workshop for children aged 6 to 12. Especially in light of the fact that some children have not received a regular school education due to their experience as refugees, reading and writing stories not only promotes language skills, but also offers a safe space for self-expression and creativity. Together, we can help the children to feel comfortable in their new environment and develop their potential. If you also enjoy helping children to learn and making a positive contribution to integration, then we look forward to your support.
The most important prerequisite for your voluntary work is that you enjoy working with children. Your positive manner will arouse curiosity and joy in reading and writing. Time to listen, openness and empathy, especially for children who have experienced severe emotional stress due to the situation in their home country or while fleeing, are a matter of course for you.
Training in social education or experience in working with children and/or children with a migration background is desirable, but not essential. Formal requirements are a minimum age of 18 years and an extended police clearance certificate.
Time frame: approx. 2-6 hours per month
