About the volunteering opportunity
LU can learn" supports school drop-outs or early school leavers in their difficult life situation and helps them to achieve vocational maturity. We are looking for teachers for German, math, biology, geography and social studies at 9th grade level. The start date is September 1, 2026, but it is also possible to join at a later date.
Your Tasks
- Preparing students for the final exam in one of the above subjects
- Working through the specified exam topics
- Motivating and supporting students
- Working in small groups
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
- Basic knowledge of one of the above-mentioned subjects or the ability to learn the subject content yourself with the help of textbooks
- appreciative attitude and enjoy working with young people in difficult circumstances
- Experience in the educational or social field is a plus, but not a must

Regularly
Approx. 2 hours per week.
On weekdays, during the day
The subjects are taught in double lessons, i.e. volunteers should have at least 2 hours per week to give lessons. More is also possible.
LU can learn GbR
With the LU can learn project, supported by the Jugend.Hafen foundation, , we help school dropouts in Ludwigshafen and the region to catch up on their secondary school leaving certificate as part of the so-called "non-pupil examination". A team of volunteer learning guides organizes lessons and supports the young people on their way.
