Camping equipment for homeless people

In Summer 2023 (July 3-9) the Danish version of the Social Inclusion Games will take place and we would like to participate with a 50-person team from Berlin from different organizations of the housing emergency assistance (GEBEWO, Neue Chance, Bürgerhilfe, Berliner Stadtmission, IB, Unionhilfswerk, SKM).

For this, some of our participants are already preparing diligently. Since the week is designed as a camping vacation, we are looking for donations for the camping equipment of Team Berlin (50 people):

• Tents
• Mats
• Sleeping bags
• Sportswear
• Caming accessories (flashlights, towels, etc.)

The Social Inclusion Games (SIG) are a europe-wide inclusive sports and cultural event for marginalized, i.e. homeless people or people affected by extreme poverty, some of them suffering from addiction or mental illness. The SIGs were first organized in 2009 in Odense/Denmark. in 2010 they were held in Twente/NL and in 2018 in Enschede/NL. In 2022, Social Inclusion Berlin e.V. organized the Inclusive Sports Days - oriented to the SIGs - in Berlin. A team arrived from the Netherlands from various organizations of emergency housing assistance.

The focus is on multiple goals of inclusion:

• sports, travel and international encounters should be made possible for disadvantaged people;
• the experiences of activity, team spirit and success should cause a sustainable stimulation to improve their life situation for the participants;
• the methodical use of sport in social work is to be promoted among the participating states;
• On site, social structures should be strengthened and new networks created by involving as many local players as possible;
• The "spirit of the game" should send out a public message for inclusion and tolerance, team spirit and fair play.

The association Social Inclusion Berlin was founded by seven Berlin housing emergency and inclusion support organizations. The purpose of the association is the promotion of social inclusion and the support of people who experience and suffer social exclusion and disadvantage in everyday life. The participation of disadvantaged groups is to be promoted in particular through sports, cultural and educational events.
