With the start of the cold relief season, the DRK warmth bus will be on the streets of the capital from 6 p.m. to midnight every day from the beginning of November to the end of March. In view of the refugee crisis, the DRK in Berlin is expecting an increase in the number of aid missions in the city during the upcoming winter season. During the winter months, the Berlin Red Cross warming bus team, consisting of volunteers and staff with socio-educational skills, will travel every evening to those places where experience has shown that homeless people are often found. In addition, tips from the public are followed up if addresses are reported by telephone where people in obvious need are staying.
The volunteers distribute clothing, sleeping mats, sleeping bags and hot tea on site. If necessary and by arrangement, those affected will also be taken to emergency accommodation.
The team urgently needs:
- Sleeping bags
- Sleeping mats
- Warm clothing, socks, shoes
