Bantabaa
Bantabaa was founded in the beginning of 2015 in Kreuzberg. Bantabaa is Mandinka, a West African language and means "encounter". Bantabaa aims to give refugees full support and stands for integration of refugees, meeting them at eye level in order to listen to their stories and to help them to take their future in their own hands. The idea started at Görlitzer Park in which many refugees, above all from West Africa, were spending time. Since most of them entered Europe coming to Lampedusa and don't have the right to receive social benefits due to their Italian papers, many see drug dealing as the only alternative to make a living. With our association, we offer daily German courses, accommodation, legal consulting as well as a vocational training program in order to create visions for the future. The target of the training project is to qualify refugees for their own business or for other gastronomy businesses. This is how refugees shall be given not only a qualification, but also professional perspectives - for a life in Germany, Europe and other home countries.
