Mittwochs-Initiative

Every Wednesday the rooms of the Mittwochs-Initiative in the community house of the Zwölf-Apostel-Community in Kurfürstenstraße are open for prostitutes and drug-addicted people from 19 h to 22 h. All members of the association, which is financed through donations, are volunteers. Women and men who are working as prostitutes can get condoms and sanitary products to protect themselves from sexually transmitted diseases. The distribution of condoms and the change of syringes are an important way of preventing HIV and hepatitis C infections. Drug-addicted people can change their used syringes into new ones in a separate room. This is how the Mittwochs-Initiative has been making an important contribution to cleanness and health protection for the residents and for good togetherness in the neighborhood since 1992.
