United Hands for Refugees e.V.

Initially founded as a Covid response & grassroots initiative, United Hands for Refugees e.V. (UHfR) now focuses on sustainable community-based support for refugees in the MENAT region. We are a nonprofit made up of volunteers from four continents and provide emergency support (basic needs) to refugee families and individuals.

About United Hands for Refugees e.V.

Target group(s)

Due to minimal or no social support and limited resources, many refugees live in insecure and fragile conditions leaving them quickly at high risk to crises. UHfR is attempting to alleviate disadvantages and inaccessibility by providing emergency support to families and individuals in need.

Funding

UHfR relies on private donations and sponsoring members. Moreover, we foster our efforts to increase our budget with grants from transnational funds to increase the support to more families and individuals.

Objectives

We have made it our mission to be a refugee-led initiative, using local resources and creating a space where refugees are the voice behind the efforts aimed at supporting them.

As a humanitarian organization, our work is dedicated to the following:

Goal 1: Ensure refugee community members have access to fundamental human rights as outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: the right to food, clothing, housing, medical care, and employment.

Goal 2: Support the preservation of the cultural identity and heritage of ethnic minorities in refugee communities.

Goal 3: Serve as a connection and referral between refugee communities and external actors to support and advocate their rights and needs.

Goal 4: Provide documentation and insights for donors, partners and other audiences advocating for refugee rights and their access to basic needs.

Goal 5: Build financial and structural sustainability for UHfR by building partnerships and increasing fundraising capacity and visibility.

Your support helps

... to demonstrate support and solidarity with families who were forced to migrate and got displaced. Our vision is for a more equal and just world, where all families have enough basic needs such as access to food, hygiene items, heating, income, and health care to live in dignified and healthy conditions.
