"Die Arche" Kinderstiftung Christliches Kinder- und Jugendwerk
The Arche is fighting against child poverty. In its facilities the Arche offers kids a daily warm lunch for free, breakfast at schools, support with homework, meaningful leisure activities with sports, games, music and especially attention. This is because kids need recognition to develop self-confidence. They need the feeling of being important and loved. Unfortunately, many kids hardly receive that at home. Our employees identify and foster the potentials of our visitors. The three pillars of Arche are relationship, sustainability and love. One of the tasks the Arche is assuming is to inform the public about these deficits of our society, so that kids are placed more in the centre of attention. Therefore, the Arche is in dialogue with the economic and political world and contributes its own work experiences. The founder of the Arche, Bernd Siggelkow, has already been awarded the Order of Merit of Berlin as well as the Bundesverdienstkreuz. Until know, the Arche has been active in 20 different cities in Germany and has been reaching with its offers about 4000 kids. However, the assumed tasks can only be realised the the help of the population. The work of the Arche is funded almost entirely by donations.
