Objectives

This is what we are committed to:
/ the right of the Tibetan people to self-determination
/ the observance of human rights such as freedom of religion, freedom of the press and freedom of expression
/ the right to cultural identity, such as their own language and way of life
/ social participation and against social discrimination and marginalization of Tibetans in Tibet
/ the protection of the environment and against the ruthless exploitation of Tibet's natural resources
/ a peaceful solution to the Tibet conflict through dialog between representatives of the Tibetan government in exile and the Chinese leadership
This is what we do:
/ We provide information about the political situation and human rights violations and raise public awareness about Tibet
/ We encourage people to actively stand up for Tibet
/ We work with political decision-makers from all democratic parties and ensure that Tibet is put on the political agenda
/ We work specifically for political prisoners in Tibet
/ We work together with Tibetans in exile. The Association of Tibetans in Germany (VTD) provides a board member of the Tibet Initiative.
/ We are in close contact with the Tibetan government in exile in India and its representatives in Europe
/ We are in contact with Chinese civil rights activists and dissidents and seek dialog with Chinese actors
