Bridging Gaps
Bridging Gaps is a nonprofit organization driven by a clear vision: everyone deserves the opportunity to build a life of their own. In refugee camps and crisis-affected regions across the Global South, we support people with what they need to start – interest-free microloans, entrepreneurship training, and long-term mentoring.
We work hand in hand with communities in Uganda, Brazil, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Ethiopia, and Zambia. Our Pay-it-Forward model turns every microloan into a shared chance – instead of repaying the loan to us, each entrepreneur passes it on to someone else in their community. This creates local financial cycles built on trust, dignity, and hope.
Founded in 2022 by Janina Peter (who has worked with various UN agencies) and Malish James, a South Sudanese refugee in Uganda, Bridging Gaps is rooted in real stories and partnerships built on mutual respect and shared goals. We believe in visibility, local leadership, and shifting power to those who drive change in their own communities.
