Are you interested in becoming a mentor for children of primary school age? Become a "Balu" and accompany and support a child between the ages of six and ten for around two to four hours a week as a friend, advisor and supporter.

Who can become a Balu?
We are looking for young, reliable people between the ages of 18 and 30 who want to give a child time and attention in order to support them outside of school and open up new horizons of experience. The personal mentor undertakes leisure activities with the child once a week, e.g. going to the playground, baking, playing games, playing soccer or whatever else the two enjoy.
Baloo and Mogli organize their time together by mutual agreement. The "Balus" spend around two to four hours a week together. Balu und Du is not about homework supervision or remedial lessons, but about active and varied leisure activities. An afternoon in the library, doing arts and crafts together, longboarding, walking along the Trave, baking pizza, playing frisbee - there are countless things to discover and learn.
Your support helps
Children who need a little more attention because, for example, they have lost a parent, have a sibling with a disability, are suffering from their parents' divorce or simply find it difficult to make friends in school. The aim of the Balu und Du year is to promote their interests and talents so that they can go through life with more self-confidence.
