Rückenwind – Bikes for refugees e. V.
Rückenwind is a non-profit association that operates a bicycle self-help workshop in Berlin-Neukölln. People who had to flee their country can register for a bicycle through our website. The bicycles are donated to our association by Berliners. In joint, voluntary work by (new) Berliners with and without experience in repression, we bring them back into a roadworthy condition. Afterwards the repaired bikes will be handed out.
About Rückenwind – Bikes for refugees e. V.
Target group(s)
We would like to support people who had to flee their country in their mobility. But the work of the association does not stop there: We want to win over everyone, regardless of their social background, for our project: whether they are long-time residents of the neighborhood, expats from around the world or new Berliners from Germany. All of them can volunteer their time and effort to promote sustainable mobility. In addition, we want to expand the work of our association in the future by working more closely with schools to introduce Berlin schoolchildren to the bicycle and the enthusiasm for sustainable mobility.

Objectives
With our work we want to provide (new) Berliners in need with affordable mobility. Because only those who can move around freely can get to know their environment better and participate in social life. In addition to individual freedom of movement, a sustainable development of our city is very important to us. We are bringing Berlin's old bikes back to life and thus increasing the share of sustainable mobility.
Your support helps
In our bicycle repair shop, we bring neighborhood residents and New Berliners together and promote integration, mobility and sustainability by repairing donation bicycles together – be a part of it!
