Jugend musiziert Berlin
"Jugend musiziert" is an annual competition held in three stages - at regional, state and national level - for children and young people who can perform with their instrument or voice in solo and ensemble competitions.
The three Berlin regional competitions and the subsequent state competition are not only a stage on which soloists and ensembles can showcase their skills in public and present them to an expert jury thanks to their pedagogical concept, combined with the encouragement to achieve personal musical excellence: They are also a place for concentrated and intensive engagement with music as well as a lively venue for encounters, exchanges and musical comparisons. In this context, in 2006 evaluations were also introduced in pop music with the categories guitar (pop), bass (pop), drumset (pop), vocals (pop) and DJ as well as the category intercultural percussion in 2008.
The participants in the subsequent state competitions are determined in the regional competitions. The first state winners are invited to the national competition. Certificates, prizes and special prizes donated by companies and institutions are awarded at all stages of the competition.
