DRK-Landesverband Nordrhein e. V.
The DRK-Landesverband Nordrhein e. V. is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. It includes more than 125 million people worldwide who help victims of conflicts and disasters as well as other people in need without distinction - based solely on the degree of need.
More than 13,000 volunteers work for the Red Cross in North Rhine-Westphalia. Together with the full-time staff, they ensure effective disaster control, take part in visiting services for the elderly or are involved in refugee and youth work, to name just a few examples. Another important task is the dissemination of international humanitarian law.
The DRK-Landesverband Nordrhein e. V. is divided into 29 legally independent district associations and 146 local associations. Children and young people between the ages of 6 and 27 are involved in the Red Cross Youth.
As an umbrella organization of independent charities, a national aid organization and youth association , the DRK-Landesverband Nordrhein e. V. performs many important and necessary tasks for society - from caring for the elderly and working with children and young people to disaster control and foreign aid. In all areas, we follow the principle of helping people to help themselves, which means that our commitment serves to support people in representing and shaping their interests in a self-responsible and self-determined manner.
