KinoBerlino

KinoBerlino is the capital's independent honorary film initiative, which since 2004 has been providing low-threshold access to technology, teams, networks, film workshops, festivals, television, film schools and cinemas for talents from all disciplines.  Content freedom, collaboration and internationality are the recipe for success for over 1200 short films produced and presented by us in all genres.  KinoBerlino is associated with the Video- und Filmverband Berlin / Brandenburg e.V., which Dave Lojek also chairs.

Objectives

The aims of KinoBerlino include establishing and expanding international networks of young filmmakers, learning how to use digital film technology under time pressure, staging actors and video editing, dealing with multicultural and ecological content, and establishing an exchange with local artists and citizens.

The self-imposed restriction to minimal production methods corresponds to the pioneering era of film history and generates astonishing synergies. We do not work commercially.

Further goals are the festival distribution of the films and the curating of short film programs as well as longer-term script development and consolidation. We attach particular importance to the positive creative group dynamics that we facilitate during spontaneous film shoots.

Film is the leading medium of our time. Access to elite film schools remains difficult. The job market in the media industry seeks qualified personell. Our project strives to set fresh, flexible and versatile accents and to increase the possibilities of producing creative ideas. We provide valuable practical experience in image composition, camera work, directing, screenwriting, storyboarding, editing, sound, composition, special effects and acting. Aesthetic and communicative key qualifications for entering the world of media are also acquired through practice with us. Female participants in particular often take the opportunity to try out technical areas of information and communication technologies during the workshop or to intensify their knowledge.

We are constantly working on growing and stabilizing the group. To do this, we will eventually need basic film, lighting, editing and sound equipment as well as funding.
