The Förderkreis Alte Kirchen der Luckauer Niederlausitz e.V. was founded on 23 June 2002. We are trying in a variety of ways to raise public awareness of the problem of church preservation and to build a broad base to support our work. Over the years, other core tasks have developed for us in addition to the goal of church preservation: education, culture and broad-based public relations work.

Target group(s)
Our most important task is to support the parishes in their building and restoration projects for the listed churches, including their furnishings and fittings and the church environment. We advise, arrange specialist contacts and initiate appeals for donations together with the parishes. In this way the parish, as the owner, creates transparency, provides information about its plans and the associated costs, and takes the public with it on the difficult path of church preservation, which must be understood as a task for society as a whole.

Objectives
Immediately after the foundation of the Förderkreis in the early summer of 2002, we collected all the offers of church concerts in the surroundings of the small town of Luckau that had taken place sporadically until then and published the first joint promotional flyer. This was the birth of the series "Music and more in the churches of Luckau Niederlausitz". Since then, it has established itself as a high-quality cultural programme, offering exhibitions, readings and theatre from spring to Advent in addition to a wide variety of concerts. The programme is deliberately decentralised so that as many church rooms as possible are enlivened and opened up in this way in addition to their religious use.
