About the volunteering opportunity
We would like to open a bicycle workshop in the Askanierring reception center. We are looking for committed volunteers to help us plan, set up, open and help shape this workshop from the beginning.
Your Tasks
- Co-founding and designing a bicycle workshop;
- Repair bicycles and other items (e.g. baby carriages).
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
Enjoy repairing bicycles.
Languages such as Turkish, Arabic, Persian or Russian are an advantage, but not a requirement.

Important notice
Open consultation hours of the volunteer coordination take place on Mondays between 13:00 and 17:00 (there may be waiting times). Other appointments are arranged individually.

The Askanierring reception center and the Aksanierring shared accommodation belong to the Landesbetrieb für Gebäudebewirtschaftung - Teil B (LfG-B for short). It is a state-owned company of the state of Berlin and was founded in spring 2017. LfG-B operates accommodation for refugees on behalf of the Berlin State Office for Refugee Affairs (LAF).
AE Askanierring is an initial reception facility. This means that our residents are new to Germany and are in the asylum process. AE Askanierring offers 330 places for refugees from various countries.
GU Askanierring is a shared accommodation facility for recognized refugees who have already settled in Berlin but still require a certain amount of support. GU Askanierring offers 570 places, also for refugees from various countries.
