We want you and your dog!

An announcement by the organization Leben mit Tieren e.V.

Since 1994, the association has set up regular visiting services with dogs in social institutions in Berlin and the surrounding area. The human-dog teams visit people in various facilities, such as retirement and nursing homes, hospitals, shared flats and private households, with their dogs, which have been tested for their suitability for this purpose. 
They enable them to establish contact with an animal. The resulting conversations counteract the isolation of many elderly people, especially in care homes. 
Around 60 human-dog teams regularly visit "their" social institutions once a week via the "Leben mit Tieren e.V." association. 
Our goals: Building relationships with people and dogs, regular visits for emotional support, prevention work with children to protect them from biting accidents.

Volunteer human-dog teams take their own dogs to work in different target groups. They regularly and continuously visit children and/or senior citizens.
There is a reading mentor dog project. Here, the teams go to schools/libraries, for example, to provide support as reading mentors.
If you are a dog owner and would like to take part in the "Leben mit Tieren e.V." association's dog visiting service, we would like to get to know you and your dog personally. In an interview, we will explain the aims of the visiting service, the requirements for a human-dog team and, of course, answer any questions you may have. After the interview, you will receive an initial questionnaire.

We are looking for volunteers who attach importance to commitment, reliability, a willingness to help people with illnesses and who have their own dog.
