About the volunteering opportunity

A volunteering offer for the "Degenerstraße" shared accommodation:

The "Degnerstrasse" shared accommodation for refugees in the district of Lichtenberg has existed since 2002 under the sponsorship of PRISOD GmbH - a social service provider commissioned by the state of Berlin.
PRISOD GmbH currently runs 10 housing projects across Berlin, in which people from over 25 different countries of origin have found a temporary home. GU Degnerstraße is located in a quiet, green residential area in the Alt-Hohenschönhausen Nord district. It has a total of 84 residential units, each with a kitchen and a bathroom, and is family-friendly accommodation. The house has various rooms for numerous activities. Children from the accommodation as well as children from the neighborhood meet up to play together in the courtyard and playground belonging to the building.
However, a refugee shelter is not a lonely island. We rely on the solidarity of the surrounding neighborhood to help refugees integrate successfully. Volunteer supporters play a major role in our work!

Your Tasks

We are happy about people who donate their time. We have a need in many areas: Help with homework, support in finding accommodation, practicing German, filling out forms, etc. We would be delighted if you would like to contribute your own ideas.
We would like to have contact at eye level with our residents. We want volunteers who are open to meeting people. We are open to your passion and interests. If you have a passion for reading fairy tales aloud, then you are very welcome to join us! If you are a Linux expert and want to help us improve our computer pool, you are also very welcome! The most important thing: your enthusiasm for what you do! Let's get talking!
