About the volunteering opportunity

The KRF has been campaigning for the protection and strengthening of children's rights since 2014. To make our work even more visible, we would like to further expand our social media presence on platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. To do this, we are looking for volunteers who not only work behind the scenes, but are also willing to act as the face of our channels and actively stand in front of the camera.

Your involvement will have a direct impact on how we can represent children's rights on social media and inspire people to support our cause. Together, we want to produce creative content that presents our work and our issues in a modern, appealing and understandable way. With your help, we can reach more people, educate them and inspire them to get involved.

Your Tasks

As a volunteer in our social media team, you will take on the following tasks:

  • Social media content creation: You will help us develop and produce creative posts, stories and reels that present our topics and projects in an appealing way on platforms such as Instagram and TikTok.

  • Stand in front of the camera: You are willing to act as the face of our channels and participate in videos or other content to convey our messages in an authentic and personal way.

  • Community interaction: You will help us interact with our online community by responding to comments and messages and encouraging dialog about children's rights.

  • Recognize and use trends: Together we analyze current social media trends and develop strategies to use them creatively for our content.

  • Supporting campaign planning: You will work with our team to plan and implement social media campaigns that raise the visibility of our work and children's rights.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
What you should bring:

  • Experience or interest in social media: Ideally you will have previous experience with platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, particularly in creating content such as reels, stories or posts. If not, a keen interest in these media and a willingness to learn new things is important.

  • Camera affinity: You should be comfortable being in front of the camera and acting as the face of our social media channels. Authenticity and enjoyment of conveying our messages personally are crucial.

  • Creativity: We are looking for creative minds who enjoy developing new ideas for visual content and picking up on trends.

  • Communication skills: You should be able to communicate our values and messages clearly and comprehensibly, both orally and in writing.

  • Commitment to children's rights: Most importantly, you must share our mission and be enthusiastic about standing up for children's rights.

Time required

The time frame of the commitment is flexible and can be arranged according to your individual possibilities. You can organize your tasks so that they fit in well with your everyday life. There are no fixed working hours and you can work from anywhere.

However, we are happy to receive regular support so that we can continuously work on new content and further expand our social media presence. It would be particularly helpful if you could accompany us over a longer period of time, as consistency and recognizability on social media are of great importance.

Important notice

Before you get started, we ask all interested parties to fill out our volunteer form. You can find it at the following link: Volunteer form. By completing the form, you will help us to get to know your interests and skills better so that we can assign you the right role in our team.

Where?

This project is location independent.

KRF (KinderRechteForum)

The KRF (KinderRechteForum) is a non-profit organisation based in Cologne and has been working for the realization of children's rights since 2014. The founder and managing director is Üwen Ergün. Today about 25 employees support this vision. Individual help, promotion of commitment and lobbying are the three pillars of our work.

The ombudsman's office for the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is the core of individual assistance and is available to children throughout the country for questions, complaints and in emergency situations.

Promoting commitment takes place, for example, in the form of project weeks and workshops in schools. Ultimately, the KRF sees itself as a mediator between children and politics and carries out extensive lobbying work.
