About the volunteering opportunity
Christmas time is a special time. Festivities are celebrated, usually with family and friends. But some people also feel very lonely at this time of year. That's why we would like to offer a free Christmas dinner for the neighborhood (maximum 10 participants) in our inclusive neighborhood meeting place "Gemeinsam im Kiez leben". We are looking for committed volunteers to organize and run the event.
Whether you organize a Christmas brunch, a Christmas café in the afternoon or a Christmas dinner, you can decide together in the group of volunteers according to your resources. We will of course support you with the planning.

Your Tasks
Together with other volunteers, you organize and design a festive Christmas dinner for people from our neighbourhood and beyond. All people can take part, regardless of their social and cultural background; with and without disabilities. The number of participants is limited to 10 people. The aim is to create an afternoon/evening of community and togetherness. So that no one has to be alone at Christmas.
- Planning and organization: menu planning, food shopping and decoration
- Preparation: setting up and decorating the room in a festive atmosphere
- Realization: preparing the food, serving the food and looking after the guests
- Follow-up: Clean up and wrap-up
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
- Enjoyment for the organization
- Openness and empathy for people from different walks of life
- Creative ideas and a desire to design a cozy party

Bürgertreff "Gemeinsam im Kiez leben"
The citizens' meeting place "Gemeinsam im Kiez leben" is an institution of the Cooperative Mensch eG and an inclusive meeting place in Alt-Hohenschönhausen. Since October 2018, the citizens' meeting place has been sponsored by the district of Lichtenberg. As a social meeting place, it is dedicated to the elimination of barriers and the local implementation of the UN Disability Rights Convention. We want to promote inclusion in the neighbourhood. We have various open and inclusive offers in the Bürgertreff and in the Kiez. We have a large network in Lichtenberg and various cooperation partners, such as an inclusive boccia club. We also arrange cultural sponsorships between people with disabilities and/or low income and people interested in culture.
