About the volunteering opportunity

The Darmstädter Landstraße housing project is a temporary accommodation facility in Frankfurt Sachsenhausen. Single people, couples and families live here in a total of 82 residential units. The aim is to get people into housing with their own tenancy agreement. Social workers support the residents in this process and offer on-site advice on general life issues such as securing a livelihood, health and finding a job. If necessary, referrals are made to specialist services and advice centers.
However, this project also focuses on living together as neighbors so that residents have the opportunity to establish a new network of social relationships and feel more like an integral part of society again.

Your Tasks

A meeting room on the first floor of the building is to be filled with life for the residents. Various support and leisure activities can be offered. Support for young families or single parents in terms of care and schooling is particularly important, but networking formats for adults are also welcome.

Among other things, we are looking for active support for
  • Homework help
  • Reading aloud afternoons
  • Board game meetings
  • ... other creative ideas are always welcome!
So if you would like to help shape the project with your own strengths, hobbies or ideas, we would be delighted to have your active and creative support!

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
Friendliness, sociability and openness to people of different ages and in different life situations are the most important skills required for involvement in the housing project. However, we also welcome creativity and the desire to design your own activities or contribute your own ideas.

Time required

Regularly
Approx. 1 hour per week.
On weekdays, during the day
The aim is to establish regular and therefore reliable homework help / offers for children, young families or single people. A commitment of approx. 1-3 hours per week / every 14 days would therefore be desirable. A team member will always be present during the volunteering hours to accompany volunteers with a lot of passion and helpfulness and to be available for questions.
