About the volunteering opportunity
The mobile Lighthouse Welcome Center is a meeting place for volunteers and refugees. Here, joint activities can take place (e.g. games, sports, practicing German) and excursions can be planned. In this way, the volunteers help refugees to find their way into urban society
We are outside in good weather and in the container at the refugee accommodation at Westpark in cold weather. The address is Gerty-Spieß-Str..
As there have only been a few activities for residents in this accommodation so far, we bring the project inside, get in touch with the residents, listen and play together. Two volunteers always work together at the Lighthouse Welcome Center. The opening hours are from 4 to 6 p.m. three days a week (Mon, Wed, Thurs).

Volunteering is very flexible, as you sign up on a doodle list for the days you want to come by. Vacations, childcare or similar are therefore very compatible with volunteering.
You are welcome to drop by once or twice and then decide whether the offer suits you.

Where?
Lighthouse Welcome Center
The Lighthouse Welcome Center is a cooperation project between Diakonie München und Oberbayern and Lichterkette e.V.. It is a mobile service for refugees. The Lighthouse goes to shelters that have a need. It stays there for several months. Volunteers come to the Lighthouse, open it up and listen to the refugees. They talk, play games together and, depending on their needs, learn German, play sports, explore the neighborhood or do other things. The aim of this project is to provide refugees with needs-based support and enable them to interact with volunteers on an equal footing. The Lighthouse Welcome Center brings a piece of welcome culture to Munich.
