About the volunteering opportunity
Reading aloud is important! Unfortunately, more than a third of parents rarely or never read to their children. We are all called upon to ensure that all children are read to regularly. Anyone who wants to open up future opportunities for children can support us in various projects.
The nationwide Read Aloud Day is one of these projects. It offers volunteers the opportunity to organize reading aloud events. This can take place in various institutions (e.g. daycare centers, schools, retirement homes), public places (e.g. parks) or very unusual places. Readers must discuss the details of their reading event (date, time, duration, reading story) with the respective institution. They then simply register their event under"Join in". As soon as the registration has been confirmed, the event will be published on the website in the"Read aloud events" overview.

Your Tasks
It's all about reading aloud. This can be done in very different ways.
First decide which target group you want to read to: kindergarten children, schoolchildren or adults? You can then approach an appropriate institution (kindergarten, school, library, retirement home, etc.). Perhaps you already have a contact that you can use, e.g. with your children's kindergarten/school or the children in your circle of family and friends.
You can also organize your reading event however you feel like it. Perhaps you speak a different language? Then you can also read aloud in bilingual institutions or refugee shelters, for example. Would you like to focus on LGBTQIA*? That's definitely possible, whether through the target group or reading material. You can freely design your campaign!
