About the volunteering opportunity

Some families live in the DU (decentralized accommodation) Ukrainian accommodation and need some support in everyday life. Many of the residents are new to Germany and are only staying in the accommodation temporarily. To make it easier for them to get started, we would like to find them dedicated "short-term mentors".

As a mentor, you will help a family or individual to find their way around Munich and cope with everyday life. The program is initially set up for three months and can be extended if necessary.

Your Tasks

Sponsorship means spending time with a family or individual on a regular basis. You can gain an insight into the lives of refugees and support them through the following activities:

  • Practicing German together
  • Giving orientation in Munich
  • Listening and having conversations
  • Organizing leisure time together
  • Support with visits to the authorities

Your profile:
  • Good knowledge of at least one foreign language
  • Enjoy getting to know new people
  • 1-2 hours per week over a period of at least 3 months
  • An open ear, patience and open-mindedness
Time commitment:
Approx. 2 hours per week, can be arranged flexibly

Our services for you:

  • Personal enrichment through exchange with people from other cultures
  • Support from Diakonie: After an initial meeting, a guided introduction is organized
