About the volunteering opportunity
We, the Schülerpaten Hamburg e.V., arrange 1:1 mentorships between volunteers and pupils with a migration background and need support for our work.
Your Tasks
Dedicated people who can take on the placement of our tandems. In this role, you will make initial contact with the newly registered mentors and students, conduct introductory meetings and accompany the entire placement process until successful matching.

- Good people skills: The ability to assess people well is crucial to finding suitable matches between mentors and students. A good sense of human nature helps to understand and take into account the needs, expectations and personalities of those involved.
- Good documentation: Careful and accurate documentation of the placement process is essential. This includes recording information from introductory meetings, documenting the progress of the mentorship and recording important results and feedback in our tool
- Independent and organized work: The ability to work independently and make decisions is important to make the placement process efficient and effective.
- Coordinating appointments : Good scheduling and coordination are necessary to organize introductory talks and matching meetings.
- Empathy: Empathy helps to understand the needs and expectations of the students and to find suitable matches.
- Patience and flexibility: The placement process can take time and requires patience and the ability to react flexibly to different situations and challenges
What we offer you:
In our friendly, young team, we place great value on regular communication and collaboration. Every month we meet in person for a team meeting to share ideas, discuss challenges and celebrate our successes. As a mediator, you will be assigned to the mediation department and work primarily with the department head. Together, we will ensure that our project is successfully implemented and that everyone feels supported.

We are committed to strengthening social coexistence in our city through intercultural encounters.
Our project mediates 1:1 sponsorships between volunteers and students with a migration background. Within the framework of the sponsorship, the volunteers give tutoring once a week at the students' homes.
